Central Assam Electricity Distribution Company Limited (CAEDCL) was incorporated on 23/10/2003 with a mandate of supplying electricity in the districts of Morigaon, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, North Cachar Hills, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimgang and part of Darang. The area of operation of the company is spread over 33,092 sq. KM with a customer base of 4.3 Lakhs.

Coming into existence in the backdrop of power reforms initiated in the entire country, CAEDCL is committed to meet the objective of reforms viz. making quality power available to all customers at reasonable cost.

CAEDCL has invested considerable amount in augmenting transformation capacity and strengthening of Distribution Network under the scheme of Accelerated Power Development and Reform Program. Computerization of billing/payment has been taken up on priority so as to ensure coverage of all customers. This will greatly reduce delays in serving of bills besides providing hassle free payment system.

Company covers vast hilly tracts of two hill districts of the state. Covering all villages through distribution networks remains a huge challenge. The company has already submitted projects under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna to electrify all the villages.

Staff of CAEDCL is receiving training in best practices so as to cut down existing losses during operation. Loss reduction continues to be our top priority so as to make the company financially strong, enabling it to meet its investment needs.
